Those Others

 

Peace is the treasure we seek,
we chase it the world over.

If only those others would do,
this or that, then. . .
we would finally have peace.

Our loved ones bear witness to
the turmoil within us.

That state of inner being,
that drives us
ever onwards seeking peace.

Love becomes an exercise
in right behavior,
and compassion
a pitiful sympathy.

Oh what chaos reigns within,
and yet it is those others
who are responsible for peace.
